Shopify frontend design and development
I’m Dwayne McCormack, a Shopify-focused frontend designer and developer based in the UK. I work with independent brands to create storefront experiences that feel intentional, technically solid, and easy to manage long-term.
My background combines design thinking with frontend implementation, allowing me to bridge the gap between visual identity, user experience, and practical Shopify development.
01
I originally started customising Shopify stores while working on e-commerce brands and quickly became interested in the intersection between branding, usability, and frontend development.
Over time, I found that many growing brands struggled with the same problem: their products and identity were distinctive, but their storefronts felt generic or difficult to maintain.
That led me toward building custom Shopify sections, improving storefront UX, and creating flexible systems that allow non-technical store owners to manage their websites without relying on constant developer support.
Today, I focus on frontend Shopify development, UX-driven customisation, and modular design systems for independent brands and growing businesses.

I start by understanding the business, audience, and positioning before making technical decisions.
I prioritise clarity, responsiveness, and maintainability rather than overcomplicated visual effects.
I aim to create storefront components that are reusable and easy for merchants to manage independently.
I treat design and development as iterative processes, refining based on usability, feedback, and technical constraints.

I’m interested in building storefronts that feel considered rather than over-engineered.
A good e-commerce experience should balance branding, usability, and maintainability. I value systems that are flexible enough for businesses to grow with while remaining simple enough for real people to use every day.
I also believe frontend development works best when design and implementation inform each other rather than existing as completely separate processes.
06
Outside of client work, I enjoy experimenting with game development in Phaser, studying systems and workflows, and exploring how technical structure can support clearer creative decisions.
